Bipartisan Effort Revives Rare Pediatric Disease Program

The bipartisan “Give Kids a Chance Act of 2025”, or H.R. 1262, was reintroduced on February 13 by Rep. Dingell (D-MI) and Rep. McCaul (R-TX). Similarly, S. 932, was reintroduced on the Senate side on March 11. The bills would accelerate pediatric cancer treatments and expand access to life-saving therapies for children battling rare diseases.

This legislation combines two critical initiatives — the original Give Kids a Chance Act and the Creating Hope Reauthorization Act — to spur drug development for pediatric rare diseases by reauthorizing the Rare Pediatric Disease Priority Review Voucher Program (PPRV), improve outcomes for patients, and close gaps in pediatric drug research.

MichBio is pleased to see this important initiative receive bipartisan backing and will seek support for the bills from the rest of Michigan’s congressional delegation.
