This web site ("Site") is owned and operated by MICHBIO. Please feel free to browse this Site; however, your access to and use of this Site is subject to the following Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy"), Terms and Conditions of Use and all applicable laws. This establishes how we handle information we learn about you from your visit to our site. Please be assured that the privacy of our visitors is of utmost importance to us. We collect no personal information about you when you visit our site unless you choose to specifically provide that information to us.

MICHBIO reserves the right to modify, reject or eliminate any material residing on or transmitted to its server that MICHBIO, in its sole discretion, believes is unacceptable or in violation of the law or MICHBIO's Terms and Conditions or Privacy Policy. MICHBIO is under no obligation to monitor the material residing on or transmitted to this server. However, anyone using this server agrees that MICHBIO may monitor the server contents periodically to (a) comply with any necessary laws, regulations or other governmental requests; (b) operate the server properly or to protect itself and its users; or (c) carry out any other business purpose.

Information We Collect
  • Purchases
    When you become a member, make a purchase, register for an educational program or event, generate an inquiry, or otherwise communicate with, respond to an inquiry from, or provide information to MICHBIO, MICHBIO or its agents may collect your name, company name, contact information and other profile information. When you make a purchase from MICHBIO, we collect your credit card information and other information relative to your membership/purchase. Your communication with MICHBIO constitutes your express consent that MICHBIO and/or its agents can use such information to deliver and confirm your purchases, process your membership or registration, or for other relevant purposes, as well as contact you again about other products, services, research studies, or membership offers.
  • Use of Cookies
    In order to make access to the MICHBIO Site more convenient, we use "session" or "transient" cookies which permit us to verify your login authentication as you move from page to page on our Site. This session cookie is removed from memory once your web browser is closed.
Use of Information Collected
  • Email/Mailing List
    We do not lease, sell or provide our email address list or our postal mailing list to any unaffiliated third-party without your express consent. By providing MICHBIO with your email or postal address, you expressly grant us the right to send you information about MICHBIO programs and related events. You may update your contact information and indicate email preferences via the MICHBIO Site. Members will receive MICHBIO electronic publications (e.g. monthly newsletter) and other member program and benefits information via email. Other personally identifying information you provide to us may be used by MICHBIO or related sources for promotional and research purposes related to Association activities and member benefits.
  • Clickstream Data
    MICHBIO believes it is important for you to know how MICHBIO treats the information about you that is received by MICHBIO when you visit. In general, you can visit the MICHBIO Site without providing any personal information to MICHBIO. MICHBIO or its agents may track the IP address of computers used to access our Site. This information is used for Site administration, as well as to evaluate use of the Site, improve content provided and for other business decision-making purposes.
How Your Information Is Protected
  • Security
    We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. We securely transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card agency during order processing. It is your responsibility to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer.
  • Web Links
    Some of our web pages contain third-party links to web sites, which are not part of the MICHBIO Site. Please be aware that when you follow a link to another web site we have no control over that web site and you are then subject to any terms and conditions and/or privacy policies of the new web site. MICHBIO provides these links only as a matter of convenience. The presence of these links is not intended to imply MICHBIO endorsement of that web site, but to provide a convenient link to member organization web sites and other relevant web sites. MICHBIO does not accept, and expressly rejects, any responsibility for any third-party link and/or your access of that web site through such a link.
  • Security
    MICHBIO uses industry-standard encryption technologies when transferring and receiving payment data. We have security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from or about you. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your computer. Do not make them available to others, and we do not recommend using the automatic fill in feature if you are using a shared computer.

Please feel free to browse this Site; however, your access to and use of this Site is subject to the following terms and conditions ("Terms and Conditions"), MichBio's Privacy Policy and all other policies of MichBio, and all applicable laws. By accessing and browsing this Site, you accept, without limitation or qualification, these Terms and Conditions, which constitute an agreement between you and MichBio (the "Agreement").

  • Restrictions on Use of Logos, Name and Materials
    MichBio’s name and logos and all related product and service names, design marks and slogans are the trademarks or service marks of one or more MichBio organizations. You are not authorized to use the MichBio logo or any MichBio name or mark in any advertising, publicity or in any other commercial manner without the prior written consent of MichBio.

    Any unauthorized modification, tampering or change of any information, or any interference with the availability of or access to this Site is strictly prohibited. This Site contains material that is protected by U.S. and international copyright and trademark laws. No material (including but not limited to the text, images, audio and/or video) and no software (including but not limited to any images or files incorporated in or generated by the software or data accompanying such software (individually and collectively the "materials") may be copied, reproduced, republished, uploaded, posted, transmitted or distributed in anyway or decompiled, reverse-engineered or disassembled, unless otherwise specified on the site with respect to particular materials. You may download on copy of the materials on any single computer for your personal, noncommercial use only, provided you keep intact and unmodified all copyright and other proprietary notices.

  • Restrictions on Use of Personal Information
    No email address found on the site may be harvested or otherwise used for purposes of solicitation. The appearance of any member's address, e-mail address, fax number or telephone number on this Site does not constitute permission for you to contact that member for commercial purposes or to send that member facsimile advertisements or commercial electronic messages. For Your protections, MichBio would like to remind you that U.S. federal law known as the "CAN-SPAM Act" (15 U.S.C. 7701) places restrictions on how internet users may send e-mail messages where the primary purpose of the message is commercial advertisement or promoting a commercial product or service. Please refer to the CAN-SPAM Act for further definition of "commercial messages."

    If you plan to send a message to any address you obtain from the MichBio Member Directory or elsewhere on the MichBio Site that might be considered primarily to be a commercial advertisement or to promote a commercial product or service, keep in mind that, a) you are prohibited from using e-mail addresses obtained from this Site for solicitation and b) it is your responsibility to make sure you comply with the CAP-SPAM Act.

Your use and browsing of this Site are at your own risk. If you are dissatisfied with any of the materials contained in this Site, or with any of these Terms and Conditions, your sole and exclusive remedy is to discontinue accessing and using this Site. MichBio assumes no responsibility and shall not be liable for the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability, relevance or usefulness of any of the materials contained on this Site.   • E-Communications and "Undeliverable" Email
    As discussed above, the federal "CAN-SPAM Act" places restrictions on how Internet users may send email messages where the primary purpose of the message is commercial advertisement or promoting a commercial product or service. Please refer to the CAN-SPAM Act for further definition of "commercial messages."

MichBio uses an email blast system to send our email notices. If MichBio is notified that your email address is "undeliverable", e-communications to you from any or all of MichBio may be stopped. We have listed possible reasons as to why email messages from the MichBio may not be accepted by your email system and include SPAM-blocking measures or email server issues used by (a) your organization's network, (b) your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or (c) your personal mail preferences. These reasons include:
•   Your email server was off-line/down
•   Your mailbox was full or your email address invalid
•   Your ISP or mailbox filter filed the message into a junk, spam or trash folder
•   The network or ISP found a "black-listed" domain name or Internet Protocol (IP) address. This "blocking" may be for a MichBio domain; or SPAM and/or virus scanning software found a "suspicious" keyword or a message as possibly harmful.

Here are some suggested steps you can take:
Some systems have a "white list" or "trusted list". Please put the MichBio domain on these lists so that MichBio email can reach you. MichBio can provide you with the exact IP address information that you/your IT department can use to add to the organization's white list. Also, adding the MichBio domain to your address book may assist this process:
•   All MichBio email notices list MichBio in the "From" line.
•   Please be sure that MichBio has your current email address. Update it at MY PROFILE on the MichBio Site.
