Your Voice. Michigan's Future. Help Shape the Next Chapter of Michigan's Life Sciences Industry
Michigan's life sciences industry stands at a pivotal moment. As the state prepares to welcome a new Governor and Legislature in January 2027, we have a unique opportunity to influence the policies, investments, and partnerships that will determine Michigan's competitiveness as a leading biosciences state.
To help define that agenda, MichBio is launching the Michigan Life Sciences Competitiveness Survey, a statewide effort to gather perspectives from companies, researchers, investors, manufacturers, healthcare organizations, service providers, academic institutions, nonprofit organizations, and economic development partners across the biosciences ecosystem
This survey comes at an important time. Immediately following last week’s election primary, MichBio submitted its Life Sciences Gubernatorial Candidate Questionnaire to the John James for Michigan and Jocelyn Benson for Governor campaigns. Their responses are currently under consideration, with a submission deadline of August 31. The questionnaire explores each candidate's vision and policy priorities for strengthening Michigan's life sciences economy. The insights gathered through this Michigan Life Sciences Competitiveness Survey will complement the candidates' responses and help MichBio develop a comprehensive, data-driven policy agenda to present to the Governor-elect and the incoming Legislature when they take office on January 1, 2027.
Your Perspective Matters
The survey explores the issues that have the greatest impact on Michigan's ability to compete nationally and globally, including:
-
Workforce and talent development
-
Access to capital and investment
-
Research commercialization and innovation support
-
Business climate and state incentives
-
Manufacturing and infrastructure
-
Collaboration across Michigan's life sciences ecosystem
Whether you represent an emerging startup, a growing company, a global enterprise, an academic or clinical research institution, an investment organization, or a supporting service provider, your perspective is critical. The survey takes only a few minutes to complete, but the results will help shape MichBio's advocacy priorities and policy recommendations for the next administration.
All responses will remain confidential and will be reported only in aggregate.
Help Build Michigan's Future
Michigan has the talent, research excellence, manufacturing capabilities, and entrepreneurial spirit to become one of the nation's premier life sciences hubs. Achieving that goal will require a shared understanding of where we excel, where we face challenges, and what actions state leaders should prioritize.
By participating in this survey, you will help ensure that the collective voice of Michigan's life sciences community is reflected in the policy priorities presented to the next Governor and Legislature.
Please take a few minutes to complete the MICHIGAN LIFE SCIENCES COMPETITIVENESS SURVEY. Together, we can help shape a stronger, more competitive future for Michigan's biosciences industry.
