Michigan Biosciences Industry Association (MichBio) members displayed the strength and diversity of the state’s bio-industry today at the 6th annual Michigan Biosciences Day at the Capitol held in Lansing, Michigan. They gathered on April 25 to advance a policy agenda for growing Michigan's bio-industry through outreach to elected officials.

The day’s program included one-on-one meetings, legislative briefings on the state of Michigan’s biosciences industry, and an end-of-the-day reception. Legislators and staff learned about the wide range of products, discoveries, technologies, and services represented by participating MichBio members.

Twenty bio-industry attendees focused their conversations in four key areas: building a biosciences cluster, developing a skilled bioscience workforce, growing a strong research and tech transfer enterprise, and ensuring patient access to healthcare innovation. They discussed the strength and diversity of Michigan’s bioscience industry, its competitive position nationally and impact on Michigan’s economy. Also, attendees talked about their organizations and how they fit into the state’s biosciences ecosystem.

All told, some sixty legislative offices were touched throughout the day’s activities.
