Entrepreneurs and innovators typically find themselves considering intellectual property agreements and licensing at least once during their professional journeys. Join MichBio for a webinar on an Introduction to Intellectual Property Agreements and Licensing. This webinar will provide a high-level introduction to the agreements and licensing provisions that relate to intellectual property. We will also explore various considerations often encountered when negotiating terms of intellectual property agreements.

 

Speakers

  • Nicholas Ballor is a registered patent agent working as a patent specialist with the metro-Detroit office of the law firm of Warner Norcross + Judd. Nicholas has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering with a minor in biochemistry from Michigan Tech., and a PhD in biochemistry and molecular biophysics from Caltech. He completed postdoctoral studies at the Joint BioEnergy Institute in Emeryville, CA. Nicholas is a published author in high-impact scientific journals. He is currently working toward his JD at Wayne State University. Nicholas’ practice focuses in intellectual property (IP) and transactional matters with an emphasis on chemical, biotech, material, and mechanical technologies. He supports the prosecution of patent applications in the United States and abroad. Nicholas has broad technical experience stretching from the biological sciences to the mechanical arts and chemical engineering having worked at some of the world’s premiere research institutions and centers of biotechnological innovation. 
  • Jason Tejani is a registered patent attorney with the metro-Detroit office of the law firm of Warner Norcross + Judd. Jason has Bachelor of Science degrees in biochemistry and molecular biology, and microbiology and molecular genetics, a Master of Science in chemistry, and a Juris Doctor. Jason concentrates his practice in intellectual property (IP) and transactional matters with an emphasis on chemical, biotech, material and mechanical technologies. He prepares and prosecutes patent applications, manages domestic and global patent portfolios, structures license and royalty agreements, and advises clients strategically, knowing that the proper management of IP should further business goals, not vice versa. Jason achieves this by guiding organizations to responsibly utilize resources in the pursuit of meaningful IP protection. Jason has vast experience across the automotive, aerospace, consumer products, healthcare, packaging, semiconductor, manufacturing and computer science industries.
