In Mid-June, GRCurrent, the Grand Rapids SmartZone based at GVSU's Cook-DeVos Health Sciences Center, graciously hosted a BioMixer. The food and beverage had a distinctly World Cup flare and a flat screen hook-up allowed attendees to keep tabs on the games being played. It all made for good networking and a fun time. Thanks to Kevin, Jeff, Bonnie, Felip, Stan and the other staff for their hospitality and support! [Read more]

2014 MichBio Expo & Conference Celebrates 10 Years, FDA Commissioner to Keynote

M ichBio is excited to host the 10th edition of our annual signature conference, and not just because of the anniversary. This year's event is poised to be the best ever. We're already celebrating the fact that Margaret Hamburg, MD, Commissioner of the U.S. Food & Drug Administration will be the Keynote Speaker. She's a remarkable speaker with great intellect and this will be your chance to see and hear her up front and close.

So save the dates of September 30-October 1 for this year's Expo at the marvelous Motor City Casino Hotel in downtown Detroit!

An optional Facilities Tour will lead off Day 1. The Expo will kick off formally at lunchtime with a Plenary Speaker, followed by an afternoon of all group sessions including a Bio-Industry Town Hall. We'll kick off the Emerging Bioscience Showcase company pitches that afternoon too. The day will end with the Opening Reception.

Day 2 will feature track sessions, more company pitches in the Showcase, and a College Program. Dr. Hamburg will close out the event in the mid-afternoon. Of course, plenty of service providers and others will await you in the Exhibit Hall. A new mobile app will allow for better partnering and social networking.

More details will be available in the coming week when we formally announce the program, agenda, registration, sponsorship, and exhibitor information.

Save the Dates: Remainder of 2014 CEO Leaders' Club Takes Shape

October 9: Vincent Forlenza, CEO of BD in Ann Arbor
October 21: Joseph Papa, CEO of Perrigo in Kalamazoo

Just a quick note about the 2014 CEO Leaders' Club and the lag in its event scheduling. We appreciate everyone's patience as we work diligently to arrange impactful programs with notable bio-industry leaders.

We've been working the phones and emails pretty hard to secure guest CEOs and fill out the remaining schedule. The good news is that we now have two CEO events scheduled for mid-fall.

So save the dates! Vincent Forlenza, CEO of BD (Becton Dickinson) will be in Ann Arbor on October 9 and Joseph Papa, CEO of Perrigo will be in Kalamazoo on October 21. We are actively communicating with at least two additional executives and hope to announce the remaining dates in the coming weeks.
