Richard Neubig

Professor & Chair, Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Michigan State University

 

Dr. Neubig received his B.S. in chemistry from the University of Michigan, M.D. from Harvard Medical School in the Harvard-MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology, and Ph.D. in pharmacology from Harvard University. He trained in internal medicine at University of Michigan Hospitals then joined the faculty in Pharmacology and Internal Medicine. He became Chair of Pharmacology & Toxicology at Michigan State University in 2013. His research focuses on GPCR signaling and more recently on targeting of transcription mechanisms as potential therapeutic approaches in cancer, scleroderma and other fibrotic diseases with major elements of fibrosis. He was president of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) and received the Astellas and ASPET Pharmacia awards for his work in translational pharmacology. He was elected Fellow of the AAAS in 2016 and is Chair-elect of Section S, Pharmaceutical Sciences of AAAS.
