Britany Affolter-Caine, PhD

Interim Executive Director, University Research Corridor

 

Britany Affolter-Caine is the Interim Executive Director for Michigan’s University Research Corridor (URC), an alliance of Michigan's largest research universities and one of the nation's top academic clusters, focused on increasing economic prosperity and connecting Michigan to the world. Since 2012, Britany has served as Program Manager for the URC since 2012, managing the development and dissemination of several reports that inform key stakeholders on the critical contributions of Michigan’s top three research intensive universities on the state’s economy. These include the annual economic impact and benchmarking series and a sector report series that has focused on the life, medical and health sciences, the blue economy, engaging in Detroit, and alumni entrepreneurship. She also manages programs and events that foster greater collaboration among researchers across the universities and with industry. Prior to the URC, Britany was the talent director for Ann Arbor SPARK, and a senior research associate for the Metropolitan Policy Program of the Brookings Institution on the Great Lakes Economic Initiative. Britany earned her PhD in higher education policy from the University of Michigan (2008), an M.Ed. in secondary education from Wright State University (1999), and a BA in political science from Wittenberg University (1996).
