  High School
Michigan Health Academy was founded in 1996 as a partnership between Henry Ford Health System and Oakwood Healthcare System. Chartered through Saginaw Valley State University, this unique public high school has a specialized structured curriculum that integrates health concepts and skills with traditional classes. Focused curriculum, small class-size and a committed faculty and staff make Michigan Health Academy the ideal school for any student who is contemplating a career in the health care field. Michigan Health Academy prepares students to make a successful transition into health care careers including preparation for entry into post-secondary education.Graduates of Michigan Health Academy are currently working as registered nurses, certified nursing assistant, medical assistant, hospital admission registrar, and even a fire fighter to name a few. Most recent graduates are enrolled in pre-medicine, nursing, radiology technician and pharmacy technician programs at local and State colleges and universities. And there are even some students who after learning about health care education requirements and having the opportunity to observe in the hospital and nursing care centers decide that healthcare is not for them. These students still leave Michigan Health Academy with a solid academic foundation and the credits required to pursue other careers in a college or university setting. As a public school, Michigan Health Academy is required to meet the State requirements for hours of instruction. School begins in late August or early September and ends in mid-June with all of the holidays and breaks built in. Teachers are all State secondary or vocationally certified in the specific subject that they teach. In addition to State funding through the Foundation Allowance, the Academy also participates in both State and Federal programs that provide additional funding for student programs, services and materials.Students attending Michigan Health
