Founded in 1886, Children's Hospital of Michigan is the largest and only freestanding hospital in the state dedicated exclusively to the treatment of children. An international leader in neurology and neurosurgery, cardiology, oncology, and diagnostic services, in 2006 Child magazine ranked Children's Hospital of Michigan one of the best in the nation. Staffed by more than 300 pediatric physicians and 500 pediatric nurses, more Michigan pediatricians are trained at Children's Hospital than at any other hospital in the state. Children's Hospital of Michigan is one of nine hospitals operated by the Detroit Medical Center (DMC).
