Education and Networking
MichBio hosts or sponsors a variety of programs where people can learn from experts and connect with peers and potential business partners. Most events are open to members and non-members, with members afforded a reduced rate.
- MichBio Expo & Conference, the state’s premier annual gathering of biosciences professionals and service providers.
- MichBio Annual Business Meeting, a popular dinner event featuring a keynote address by an industry leader and update by MichBio’s presidnent and CEO.
- Monthly and quarterly education and networking events, such as BioArbor, Sprouts and Kalamazoo BioInnovation Forum focus on topics such as technology commercialization, financing strategies and business development.

Legislative and Business Advocacy
MichBio spearheads advocacy efforts on behalf of the biosciences community, representing members’ interests on critical issues at the local, state and federal levels. MichBio was instrumental in forming the Michigan Biosciences Legislative Caucus that promotes informed decisions by educating legislators on bioscience issues.
In addition, through its state affiliation with the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO), MichBio regularly attends BIO-organized efforts to influence key votes on biotechnology-related legislation. Other national partners include AdvaMed, MDMA, PhRMA and GPhA on matters relevant to their subsectors.

A prolific communications program keeps MichBio members apprised of member and industry news, events and issues.
- BioMatters Magazine a bi-annual publication (Nov. and May) devoted to chronicling the discoveries, trends, issues and personalities that are shaping a growing and vibrant Michigan biosciences community.
- Michigan Biosciences Directory & Resource Guide, a comprehensive listing of everything biosciences in the state published as part of the May issue of BioMatters.
- The Michigan Biosciences LINK, a monthly e-newsletter, featuring member profiles and news, industry and legislative updates, event coverage, and other useful articles.
- The robust MichBio website, which receives more than 15,000 visitors each month from those seeking resources from service suppliers to funding sources to company news and more.

These reduced rates save members time and trouble, and can contribute meaningfully to bottom line results for emerging and established companies, alike.
