Michigan’s Bio-Industry Sees Slight Gains, But Overall Lags in
Competitiveness and Growth Needed to be a Biosciences Leader

The Higher Education budget has become ensnared in the fight over embryonic stem cell research following the passage of Proposal 2 in 2008 that lifted the ban on research.

Sen. Tom GEORGE (R-Texas Twp.), who headed the campaign against Proposal 2, successfully added an amendment to  SB 1157 sponsored by Appropriations Higher Education Subcommittee Chair Tony STAMAS (R-Midland).

In 2010, the BIO International Convention is offering an opportunity for academic researchers to participate in the BIO International Convention, May 3-6, in Chicago at the discounted rate of $595 for a Full Convention access pass.  The convention offers a host of benefits for academics to network at this global event.

Additionally, each academic attendee who registers at the discounted $595 rate will be allowed to request two Session access codes so that their students/post docs may participate at no charge.
