Michigan Innovation Equipment Depot
The Michigan Innovation Equipment Depot (MIED) is the result of the collaborative efforts of Pfizer, Ann Arbor SPARK, MichBio and Michigan’s Smart Zones. The mission of the program is to provide life science start-up companies throughout Michigan with equipment resources to further their growth. The purpose of the MIED is to accelerate commercialization by providing access to previously used laboratory equipment critical to a company’s product research, development and manufacturing. Pfizer Consumables- Sophisticated research equipment donated by Pfizer Inc is now available to life-science companies throughout Michigan through the Michigan Innovation Equipment Depot (MIED). Up to $4.5 million in surplus lab equipment will go to MIED. Most of the equipment will come from Pfizer’s Ann Arbor site, which is closing at the end of 2008. Ann Arbor Spark, MichBio and Southwest Michigan First will manage distribution of the equipment to life science startups across the state, supported by $550,000 in funding from Michigan’s 21st Century Jobs Fund. >>Read more

Core Technology Alliance
The Michigan Life Sciences Corridor Core Technology Alliance (CTA) is a consortium of research universities: Michigan State University, Wayne State University, the University of Michigan, the Van Andel Research Institute, Western Michigan University, and Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The CTA serves as a catalyst for biotechnology research and business development in the life sciences for the state of Michigan, providing advanced technology and specialized research services to scientists affiliated with universities, private research institutes, biotechnology companies, and pharmaceutical firms.

- Center for Venture Capital & Private Equity Finance
The Center's objective is to encourage an increasing rate of sustainable growth of jobs, income and wealth creation by encouraging entrepreneurial activity in local, regional, national and international markets. - Biotechnology Business Consultants
Biotechnology Business Consultants, through the Michigan Life Sciences Corridor Fund, has received a contract to provide commercialization consulting services to life science entrepreneurs and early-stage life science companies throughout Michigan. Through a combination of seminars, training sessions, One-on-One meetings and intensive consulting assistance (incubation services), BBC will assist entrepreneurs and early-stage life science companies in moving closer toward the goal of commercialization of novel products and technologies.
