Stephen T. Rapundalo, PhD
President & CEO
Dr. Rapundalo, has broad experience in the life sciences, with an extensive background in pharmaceutical research and development. Prior to joining MichBio in April 2006, he spent almost 20 years as a senior research scientist, project manager, and group leader with Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research and then Pfizer, Inc., primarily in the area of cardiovascular drug discovery.
Dr. Rapundalo also led a global interdisciplinary team that developed a strategic, operational and organizational change management program to improve Pfizer's worldwide R&D business processes. He has a strong background in innovation and is an internationally recognized expert in a number of technology areas including high-throughput screening and proteomics, among others.
Dr. Rapundalo has a superb record of scientific achievement with over 50 publications, book chapters, and monographs. He has served as a peer-reviewer for a variety of prominent scientific journals and national funding agencies. In addition, he continues to be active in a broad range of industry and governmental initiatives including intellectual property commercialization, talent recruitment and retention, science education and economic development.
Dr. Rapundalo has been a community advocate and civic leader for almost 20 years and formerly served as an elected member of the City Council in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Director, Marketing & Communications
Katie brings 15 years of marketing communications, branding, graphic design, social media strategy, event coordination, and project management experience to her role as the director of marketing and communications for MichBio. She comes to MichBio after ten years at the University of Michigan (U-M), where she managed communications and publications for the study abroad office, the Graham Sustainability Institute, and the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
Katie has a bachelor's degree in advertising, with a specialization in Italian studies, from Michigan State University and a master's degree in integrated marketing communications from Eastern Michigan University. She's an avid runner and triathlete who also enjoys camping, kayaking, photography, and adventure. She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband, son, senior citizen cat, and a speckled dog named Stella.
David S. McGuire, II
Director, Membership & Operations
David previously worked with a number of national and international associations in Washington DC, allowing him to bring a unique skill set specifically tailored to the needs of nonprofit associations. David’s experience ranges from member and volunteer relations to strategic growth initiatives, including product development and member enhancement.
His previous association employers included the Fulbright Association, the American Society of Travel Agents, and the American Academy of Physician Assistants. David is an Eagle Scout of Troop 63, Williamston, MI. He holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Michigan State University and has studied abroad in London, England, and Edinburgh, Scotland.
Nancy K. Marcotte
Nancy has more than 25 years of experience in leading local businesses with their accounting and operations functions. She has experience in retail, scientific, and publishing businesses with a focus on economy and efficiency. Nancy has created success for various Michigan small businesses during critical times, bringing two companies back from near bankruptcy.
A fitness enthusiast, she is an active participant in Michigan’s running and cycling communities.
